The website ‘Archaeology Travel (https://archaeology-travel.com), hereafter the ‘Site’, as well as any other related products and services that refer or link to these legal terms (the ‘Legal Terms’) (collectively, the ‘Services’), is owned and operated by Archaeology Travel Media (‘Company’, ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’). The company is registered in Germany, at DeezbÅ«ll Burg 38A, NiebÅ«ll, Schleswig Holstein 25899. Our VAT number is DE340355662.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement made between you, either personally or on behalf of an entity (‘you’), and us, relating to your access to and use of the Site and Services. By creating an account, posting content, or otherwise using the Service, you agree that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all of these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with all of these Terms of Service, then you are expressly prohibited from using our Services and you must discontinue your use immediately.
We reserve the right to modify or revise these Terms at any time, and you agree to be bound by such modifications or revisions. 2. Description of Service
Archaeology Travel provides information and resources, travel guides and forums related to archaeology/history and travel. Our goal is to encourage everyone to explore the world’s pasts in more meaningful and engaging ways.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else’s use and enjoyment of the Service.
Specifically, you agree that you will NOT:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law.
- Engage in any conduct that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable.

- Forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any content transmitted through the Service.

- Upload, post, email, or otherwise transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files, or programs designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers or networks connected to the Service, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies, or regulations of networks connected to the Service.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion or feature of the Service, or any other systems or networks connected to the Service or to any of our servers, or to any of the services offered on or through the Service, by hacking, password “mining,” or any other illegitimate means.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any network connected to the Service, nor breach the security or authentication measures on the Service or any network connected to the Service.
- Reverse look-up, trace, or seek to trace any information on any other user of or visitor to the Service, or any other customer of ours, including any Archaeology Travel account not owned by you, to its source, or exploit the Service or any service or information made available or offered by or through the Service, in any way where the purpose is to reveal any information, including but not limited to personal identification or information, other than your own information as provided for by the Service.
- Harvest or collect email addresses or other contact information of other users from the Service by electronic or other means for the purposes of sending unsolicited emails or other unsolicited communications.
4. Unacceptable Use
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of your access to the Service:
- Commercial Use without Authorization: Using the Service or any content within it for any commercial purpose not expressly permitted by us. This includes, but is not limited to, selling access to the Service, reproducing or reselling content from the Service, or using the Service to advertise products or services without our prior written consent.
- Data Scraping/Crawling: Systematically retrieving data or other content from the Service to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation, database, or directory without written permission from us.
- Disruptive Behaviour: Any activity that disrupts or interferes with the normal operation of the Service, its servers, or networks.
- Harmful Content: Posting or transmitting any content that is overtly racist, sexist, hateful, or promotes violence or illegal activities.
- Spamming: Posting excessive and irrelevant messages, or engaging in any form of unsolicited mass communication.
5. Rules of Using This Service
- Accuracy of Information: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when prompted by the Service (e.g., when registering an account). You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information.
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login information (username and password) and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. We cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this security obligation.
- User-Generated Content:
- Responsibility: You are solely responsible for any content you post, upload, publish, or display on the Service, or transmit to other users (collectively, “User Content”).
- Licensing: By posting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly perform, and publicly display such User Content in connection with the Service and our (and our successors’ and affiliates’) business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Service (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels.
- Representations and Warranties: You represent and warrant that: (i) you own the User Content posted by you on or through the Service or otherwise have the right to grant the license set forth in this section, and (ii) the posting and use of your User Content on or through the Service does not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, contract rights, intellectual property rights, or any other rights of any person.
- Monitoring and Removal: We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor User Content and to remove or edit any User Content for any reason (or no reason) without prior notice. We may also terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms.
- Respectful Community: Engage with other users in a respectful and constructive manner. Harassment, personal attacks, or any form of bullying will not be tolerated.
- Hyperlinking to Our Content: You may link to our Site, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval, or endorsement on our part where none exists.
6. Copyright and Intellectual Property
- Our Content: All content on the Archaeology Travel website, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, audio clips, video clips, data compilations, and software, is the property of Archaeology Travel or its content suppliers and is protected by international copyright laws. The compilation of all content on this site is the exclusive property of Archaeology Travel and protected by international copyright laws.
- Limited License: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service and its content for your personal, non-commercial use only, subject to these Terms.
- Restrictions: You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, display, perform, modify, create derivative works from, transmit, or in any way exploit any part of the Service, except as expressly permitted by us.
- Trademarks: The Archaeology Travel name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of Archaeology Travel or its affiliates or licensors. You must not use such marks without the prior written permission of Archaeology Travel.
- Reporting Infringement: If you believe that any content on the Service infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, please contact us immediately at [email protected] with the following information:

THE SERVICE AND ALL INFORMATION, CONTENT, MATERIALS, PRODUCTS (INCLUDING SOFTWARE) AND OTHER SERVICES INCLUDED ON OR OTHERWISE MADE AVAILABLE TO YOU THROUGH THE SERVICE ARE PROVIDED BY ARCHAEOLOGY TRAVEL ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SERVICE OR THE SERVERS THAT MAKE IT AVAILABLE ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
ARCHAEOLOGY TRAVEL DOES NOT WARRANT OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE USE OR THE RESULTS OF THE USE OF THE MATERIALS ON THIS SERVICE IN TERMS OF THEIR CORRECTNESS, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE. YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR, OR CORRECTION.
8. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL ARCHAEOLOGY TRAVEL, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES (EVEN IF ARCHAEOLOGY TRAVEL HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES), RESULTING FROM:
- YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE;
- THE COST OF PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS AND SERVICES RESULTING FROM ANY GOODS, DATA, INFORMATION, OR SERVICES PURCHASED OR OBTAINED OR MESSAGES RECEIVED OR TRANSACTIONS ENTERED INTO THROUGH OR FROM THE SERVICE;
- UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR DATA;
- STATEMENTS OR CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE;
- ANY OTHER MATTER RELATING TO THE SERVICE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL ARCHAEOLOGY TRAVEL’S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES, LOSSES, AND CAUSES OF ACTION (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO NEGLIGENCE), OR OTHERWISE) EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU, IF ANY, FOR ACCESSING THE SERVICE DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE OF THE CLAIM.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Archaeology Travel, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, suppliers, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service, including, but not limited to, any User Content you post or transmit, or your violation of any rights of another.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by Archaeology Travel. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. You acknowledge and agree that Archaeology Travel shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any such content, goods, or services available on or through any such websites or services. We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party websites or services that you visit.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your account, you may simply discontinue using the Service.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Niebüll, Germany to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect.
14. Entire Agreement
These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Archaeology Travel regarding our Service, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding the Service.

Specific Membership Terms & Conditions
1. Membership Fees
As of 1 May 2025, membership subscriptions are as follows: five euros per month or fifty euros per year. A one-off lifetime subscription is available for five hundred euros. Fees will be collected via the website, which uses the payment platform Strip.
2. Terminating Membership
Monthly and annual memberships can be cancelled at anytime by notifying us at [email protected], or cancelling your payment mandate via Stripe.
3. Membership Benefits
Members have the benefit of being able to use the itinerary builder and make contributions to the Community Forum; both services not available to free accounts.
4. Changes to the Terms of Service
We provide prior notice to registered members of any changes to the Services where these affect members use of the Site. Such notifications are made by email, using the following address: [email protected]. Updates to the Site’s general Terms of Service will be added to this page and will be effective when published. By continuing to use the Services after the date of any changes, you agree to be bound by the modified terms.
